Attractions in Frankfurt

The city of Frankfurt is endowed with a wide variety of tourist attractions that include its spectacular skyline and several museums. The first thing that mesmerizes you at your arrival in the city is the magnificence of the second largest international airport second only to Heathrow in the Unites States. It also boasts hosting the European central bank once again asserting its unique position as one of the financial and business pillars in Europe.

The historical sites are numerous and varied, including the Archaeological Museum which is encased in the Carmelite church holding one of the widest archeological collections and findings of the Frankfurt and the surrounding area all the way from prehistoric times. Still in same category is the Botanical garden (Palmerngarten) which was founded by the Frankfurt citizen back in 1868 to showcase the excellent tropical plant collection by the duke of Nassau. Another historical site is the Carmelite Monastery and the adjacent Museum of Archeology together with the institute of the history of Frankfurt. For art lovers, there is the Caricatura standing in the new location of Leinwandhaus which enable one to sample the current stock of satirical art from German speaking people.

There are other several modern places worth visiting; the Administrative building of Commerzbank AG and tower which stand in the middle of the banking district.  It is an architectural master piece worth your time. Indeed, the Banking district is in a class of its own when it comes to its ancient and modern works of some of the finest architectures. Then we have the famous 143 meters high city haus built in with a non columnar design of yore in an area covering 52,000 QM. The Deutsche bank twin tower known as the “credit and debit” by the local is another magnificent structure in the heart of city not to mention the European central bank or the “Euro-tower”.

Frankfurt is also a city of art lovers; this can be affirmed by the presence of dozen public art galleries like the Adorno Monument which is a structure commemorating the famous philosopher’s Theodore W Adorno 100th birthday, Adorno works both as a philosopher and a musicologist are well preserved for posterity. Then there is the famous Richard Hess’ sculpture by the name of David and Goliath erected near the suburbs of Hauptwache at the gates of the Zeil promenade in the eighties. This and others make up the tourism side of Frankfurt.
